Description

Professor Philip Olayele Abiodun, is a Professor/ Consultant in Paediatrics and Child Health in the University of Benin/ University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City, with a long and wide experience nationally and internationally. He obtained his basic medical degree, (Staatsexamen) and postgraduate degree MD at the Christian Albrecht University, Kiel (West Germany).

This was followed by his specialist training (Facharzt) in Child Health at the Justus-Liebig University, Giessen, West Germany. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) and Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College FMCPaed. He is the current President of the Nigerian Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NISPGHAN), member of the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and former executive member of Commonwealth Association of Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (CAPGAN).

Professor Abiodun has since worked as Consultant and Teacher in Justus-Liebig Universitatet, Giessen, Germany; University of Benin / University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City; Asir Central Hospital, Saudi Arabia; and Sultan Quaboos University, Muscat, Oman, UAE. He has been an examiner in many universities both at national and international levels as well as supervisor of many postgraduate degree projects for decades.

He is married to Lady (Barr.) Adefunke Abiodun and they are blessed with children.
