Senator Professor Adego Erhiawarie EFERAKEYA hails from Aghalokpe near Sapele in Delta State of Nigeria. He is a  holder of B Pharm (Ife, now OAU), PhD and MD (Kansas, USA) degrees. Thus, he is a Pharmacist, Pharmacologist and Physician. He is a bridge between Pharmacy and Medicine. He is a retired (not tired) Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.

Professor Eferakeya is the author of the book titled “High Blood Pressure Time Bomb”,  and  also co-authored the book “Some Contemporary Health Issues” with Professors Peter Hugbo and James I. Ogonor. He has published many scientific research papers in reputable national and international journals.

He taught Pharmacology and Toxicology (for twenty six years) to undergraduate Dental, Medical and Pharmacy students and graduate students within and outside Nigeria. He supervised many MSc and PhD students some of whom are now Professors.

 

Administratively, Sir Eferakeya functioned as the Chief Pharmacist of the defunct Bendel State; Head, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology and Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin; Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, King Faisal University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Professor Eferakeya served his Country, Nigeria, as a Senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria (2007 – 2011). He is honoured with Chieftaincy titles of OKAKURO, The Omakpokpor of Okpe Kingdom, The Ohworode of Mosogar Kingdom and The Ogburebe of Uvwie Kingdom. Sir Eferakeya is a Catholic Church Knight of the Order of Knights of Saint Mulumba Nigeria, (KSM). He is happily married to Barr. Lady Chief Oyeiwo M. Eferakeya (LSM, nee Osime) and the marriage is blessed with lovely children.
