This text presents some of the notable cases examined in this centre in the last 6 years, since the acquisition of digital radiography and image archiving system. Some of the cases have been selected for their uniqueness, others for their frequency but each highlights the power of observation and logical analysis using basic radiological tools for the most part.
Each case is presented with the description of the available images on presentation in our facility as requested by the referring physician followed by differential diagnoses consideration and further imaging and management direction advice as would be the case in a normal clinical setting when evaluating a clinical problem. The continuing relevance of basic radiologic tools including plain films, contrast examinations and fluoroscopy is demonstrated and which remains of utmost importance in this part of the world with rising poverty and technological as well as infrastructural challenges. Furthermore each case serves as a focus for stimulating the reader to deeper and wider academic inquiry.
A didactic section on musculoskeletal tumours and tumour-like conditions using the multi-modality approach has been added by one of the authors practicing in the United States of America.
The website – https://www.stbridgetsradiology.com serves as a portal for the continuous upload of notable cases examined at the centre as they present on a regular basis.
THE BOOK
This is the International Edition of the book, Questions and Answers in Anaesthesia and Intensive care first published in 2011. The responses from the users of the book have been very encouraging and rewarding at the same time.
This International Edition is a result of my experiences from teaching and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students in Anaesthesia and Critical Care across Nigeria, East and Southern Africa. Many new questions and answers have been added to provide a broader scope for the undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. In addition, mnemonics have been incorporated into virtually all sections and answers in this new book.
The suggestions of the users of the first Edition of the book have been graciously received and incorporated. Some of these suggestions include a robust index session at the end of the book and inclusion of some topics that were not in the earlier edition.
It is hoped that the reader will find this Edition very useful in the preparation of both undergraduate and postgraduate examinations. Anaesthesia practitioners, lecturers and examiners will hopefully find the book a very useful adjunct in their daily assignments.

THE BOOK
Objective methods of assessing candidates are currently occupying the front-burner in both undergraduate and postgraduate examinations in Medicine. This book is meant to help surgical trainees scale this difficult, but important hurdle.
The book comprises of over 2000 (two thousand) carefully-selected multiple choice questions and has endeavoured to cover all the surgical subspecialties. In addition, sample questions in the surgical-related subspecialties of Anaesthesia, Radiology and Ophthalmology have been included.
Three forms of questions are included, in line with the format of multiple choice questions in surgical examinations: true/false, single/best answer and matching questions respectively. In addition to providing answers to the questions, the author has, where necessary, added some relevant explanatory notes; hence the sobriquet: multiple choice questions that teach.
This book will, therefore, prove invaluable to both undergraduate and postgraduate candidates whose examinations encompass the entire gamut of surgical sub-specialties as well as other surgical-related disciplines.
